PROF. CHANDNI: "FOR TRUE, HONEY..."

'I'm so sorry, candidates 1 through 30...' By Anna Canlas (The Philippine Star) Updated April 28, 2012

MANILA, Philippines - I’m so. So. Sorry…

I would like to take this moment to apologize to you: the pharmacy student; the HRIM graduate; the licensed physician; the double-degree holder, in political science and law. Wherever you are right now, wherever you came from, please accept that you were upstaged. By a 24-year-old model/DJ — male, straight (a relevant clarification, in light of recent transvestite-linked rulings), name of Callum David — a.k.a. DJ Vinimal, who spun music — and circles — around this year’s Binibining Pilipinas aspirants. Taking to the turntables to accompany the girls’ sashays with his own pop-and-electronic stylings, Callum unwittingly trended on Twitter, winning the hearts of girls and pa-girls alike. But just who is the man behind the deejay’s table? We do some digging to see if there’s something between the headphones…

What are you doing here? We mean, in Manila. You hail from Brisbane, right? Then had some modeling stints in Thailand and Korea? Why land here?

CALLUM DAVID: Well, I live here now, but originally I came to Manila straight from South Korea for modeling jobs I had been pre-booked for.

MISS BLACK FRANCE 2012

The first Miss Black France contest was held this weekend. Twenty-two models between the ages of 19 and 28 were selected from 1,000 entrants. The eventual winner was Mbathio Beye, a 21-year-old Senegalese-born student. The contest was marred by a political protest from the far right. Read more about the contest and the protests at the RFI (Radio France International) website
Editorial Note: In this presidential election year for both the France and the USA, Dean Harris doesn't know which far right is scarier - the far right in the USA or the far right in France. Zut alors!

The new Garoto and Garota Fitness Brazil 2012 are Júnior Moreno, 27 and a model, and Marissol Dias, 28 and a dancer. They won their titles on Friday night during the 15th annual competition.

OMFG...¡SÍ!

Both Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni nearly choked on their tuna fish sandwiches today at lunch in the faculty lounge when Boris showed them these pix on his iPad. Turns out you can enter a contest to have dinner with the drop-dead gorgeous, goal-making, super-guapo Mister Spain 2011 Diego Otero. Check out the contest and more pix at the Spanish magazine QMD website.

Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni are going to lie about their citizenship and try to enter the contest. They want dinner, drinks, and few goals in the net afterwards, if you get the drift. Even Boris said that he would do Diego, hypothetically-speaking.  OMFG...¡SÍ!

¿QMD, Diego?

MISS GIBRALTAR 2012

Gibraltar Chronicle, 16-Apr-2012: Jessica Baldachino is the new Miss Gibraltar. She will reign in the fiftieth anniversary year of the Miss Gibraltar pageant. First Princess and runner up was Kerriane Massetti. Second Princess Christina Ainsworth. In its 50th year Miss Gibraltar 2012 will be remembered not just for its historical significance but for having overcome a two and a half hour delay following a major electrical power failure to St Michael’s Cave and Upper Rock. Promptly starting at 9pm, just 25 minutes into an energy driven production which promised a night of top class entertainment, the show came to an abrupt stop. It was undoubtedly its elegant, dynamic and overall strong production values which saved the night.

OVERHEARD IN THE FACULTY LOUNGE...

Prof. Chandni: OMFG, did you see that hot DJ on 'Binibini' the other night? OMFG! You would not believe the tweets!

Dean Harris: Yes, I saw him, and yes, I got those tweets, too, including all of yours!

Prof. Chandni: Well, IMHO, he was almost the best thing about the show! I mean the show was good - an excellent production and a great winner. But during the swimsuit competition, I could not take my eyes off the guy! I asked Lorraine to google him, but she thought he was a student and I asking her to perm his hair. So, I had to google him!   OMFG! Not only is he gorgeous and spins the best mixes, but he also speaks  five languages.

Name: Callum David Age: 24 years. Old Profession: Model/ Dj Height: 5’ 11”Home Town: Queensland, Australia Can Speak: English Chinese (Mandarin) Hebrew Arabic Gaelic (Irish)

Dean Harris: I need to have him! For the prom, I mean. We are going to have to find another DJ for the prom because Boris is working at  Discothéque Aziyadé that night. Ummm...do you have his Twitter account? DJ Callum David's, I mean? I want to ask him for the name of the music he played when Contestants 21 and 22 competed in swimsuit.

Prof. Chandni: (sigh) No, I don't. I wish I did, though, honey!
