Σταρ Ελλάς 2012

The Balkan nation of Greece elected its representatives to Miss World 2013 and Miss Universe 2012 on Wednesday. The new Star Hellas (Σταρ Ελλάς) is Vasiliki Tsirogiannis. With her title comes a ticket to next month's Miss Universe 2012. The new Miss Hellas is Athena Pikrakis, who will now go on to compete for the title of Miss World 2013. 

BEST MODEL OF BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA

Representing Bosnia and Herzegovina at the next edition of the co-ed Best Model of the World will be Alipaša Selimović and Anja Đudurović. They won their titles the other day, during a contest at Nivea BH Fashion Week in Banjaluka.

SRTA. COLOMBIA 2012-2013

The new Señorita Colombia (Miss Colombia) 2012-2013 is Carmen Lucía Aldana Roldán, Srta. Valle. She won the title last night during a glittering gala ceremony in Cartagena. First-runner-up, or Virreina, was Srta. Huila, Lorena Hermida. Rounding out the top five were Srta. Meta, Margarita Peralta; Srta. Antioquia, Laura Trujillo; and Srta. Atlántico, Yuliana Mejía.

MISS GHANA 2012

Naa Okailey Shooter, 22 and a medical student at the University of Ghana, is the new Miss Ghana 2012. She won the title on Saturday, during a gala ceremony at the Accra International Conference Centre. She now has a ticket to Miss World 2013. Runners-up for the Miss Ghana title were Nadia Ntanu, 23, and Jennifer Annan, 22.

MANHUNT INTERNATIONAL 2012

The new Manhunt International 2012 is June Macasaet of the Philippines. He won the title today during a gala in Bangkok. This is the first Manhunt International title for pageant-crazy Philippines. First runner-up was Sweden's Peter Jonsson. Second runner-up was Macau's Martin Wang; third runner-up was Puerto Rico's Jimmy Perez Rivera; and fourth runner-up was Singapore's Jason Chee. This year's competitors were top-notch, and BS is sure the judges had a hard decision to make. Dean Harris just overheard Prof. Chandni say in the faculty lounge that the result was sort of like Miss Universe 1987 - coulda gone either way, and it would have made sense. And Prof. Chandni just overheard Dean Harris humming the song "Manhunt" from the 1980's cinematic classic "Flash Dance." She swears that he kept repeating one line in particular, "Man, I wanna make you glad you're alive," but is not sure if he was thinking of June or Peter.

Dean Harris, and yes, even Prof. Chandni, have to love to hate the Donald as long as he owns MUO. Meanwhile, they will continue to vote Democrat. 

MISS UNIVERSE ARGENTINA 2012

Oh my god, Dean Harris is over the moon with the new Miss Universe Argentina! She could be a contender! Dark and dusky beauty Camila Solórzano, 23, won the coveted Miss Universe Argentina 2012 title last night during a glittering gala at the Hotel Metropolitan in Buenos Aires. Runners-up were Camila Valdéz and Antonella Ponso.

MISS UNIVERSE SLAVONIJE i BARANJE 2012

Better late than never! A few weeks ago, on 28-October-2012, at the Hotel King Tomislav in Nova Gradiska, Croatia, Matea Radivoj won the 13th annual Miss Universe Croatia Slavonia and Baranja 2012  title, a preliminary to the Miss Universe Croatia 2013 contest.

MISS AND MISTER ELECTION 2012

Beauty School can now declare the winners of Miss and Mister Election 2012 - the states that gave the highest vote to the winner of the U.S. Presidential Election and the 44th President of the USA, President Barack Obama. Miss and Mister Election 2012 is District of Columbia, the President's current home. 

The District of Columbia - 91% of the vote

First runner-up is Hawaii, the President's home state. Second runner-up is Vermont, and third runner-up (take note, Olivia Culpo!) is Rhode Island. 

HI - 72% of the vote

VT - 67% of the vote

The home of Miss USA 2012 - 63 % of the vote

There is a three-way tie for fourth runner-up: Massachusetts, Maryland, and New York. Beauty School will attempt to measure the hips of these three states to break the tie, a la the 1954 Miss Universe election. Meanwhile and coincidentally, all of these states have won the Miss USA title (even if just for one day, as in the case of Maryland).

MA/MD/NY - 61% of the vote

P.S. The states that gave the highest vote to the loser, Mittens, were, in order of percent of vote, Wyoming, Idaho, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Nebraska. Dean Harris is delighted to note that only one of these states has won the Miss USA title out-right (and she was really from Florida), while another state merely "ascended" to the title. 

GET OUT THE VOTE! ROCK THE VOTE!

Get Out the Vote! Rock the Vote!  And yes, BS just knew Marybel is a good Democrat, like any smart Coloradan! And BS predicts Colorado will give its electoral votes to President Obama.

All BS staff and faculty have voted today! Have you? An overwhelming majority of BS staff and faculty voted for Obama, natch. So should you.

Nate Silver's 538 blog gives President Obama a 100% chance of winning Rhode Island electoral votes, with a resounding 61% of the Ocean State's vote. Olivia, we are sure you will constitute part of the 61%. We love you too much to even think that you could possibly vote for Mittens."

MISS UNIVERSE ROMANIA 2012

The new Miss Universe Romania 2012 is Delia Monica Duca, 26. She won the coveted title last night. She is a pageant veteran, having participated in Miss Tourism International and Miss Globe International. 

MISS UNIVERSE IRELAND 2012

The new Miss Universe Ireland 2012 is Adrienne Murphy, 22. She won the title on Friday night during a glittering gala at Dublin's D4 Balsbridge Hotel. First runner-up was Maire Hughes and second runner-up was Moira McDermott.  Supermodel, Miss Universe Ireland 2010, and Victim of Highway Robbery at Miss Universe 2010, Rozanna Purcell, was one of the judges. Andrea Roche, Miss Ireland 1998 and top ten at Miss Universe 1998, continues to hold the Miss Universe Ireland franchise, thank god!

OK, it is official. With the election of Adrienne, Miss Universe fever has struck the BS campus in a fierce, fell swoop. BS faculty consulted with Mona Grudt (remember, she wanted to be a nurse!), as well as Dr. Reita Faria, on how to keep the fever at bay for as long as possible. But, alas, the fever has a power of it own. 

Of course, Dean Harris always suffers from this kind of Mister fever! He has an an especially doubly nasty fever now, what with all the mister contests + Miss Universe!
