There is a new Miss Tatarstan (Russia) 2013. Elected last night during a five-hour, glittering gala in Kazan, she is Diana Krasnova, 19. Diana will now represent Tatarstan at the upcoming Miss Russia 2013 contest.

THE NEW MISS ASIA
Yahoo! Singapore, 22- Jan-2013: Amy Chen, a 26-year-old student with a Masters Degree who represented Hong Kong and Macau emerged the winner of ATV Miss Asia 2012. According to Jayne Stars, on 21 January, Amy Chen has been announced as the winner of Hong Kong's 2012 Miss Asia pageant, hosted by ATV, defeating favourites Annie Qi, who was named first runner-up, and 21-year-old Svetlana Gulakova from India, who finished as second runner-up. She also defeated the night's most popular contestant, 19-year-old Vika Kong from Jiangxi, China. In addition, Amy also won the Asian Charisma award. When asked about her upcoming plans, she revealed that she plans to join the entertainment industry, but her top priority is to practice her Cantonese, as she is a Hong Kong immigrant from Taiwan. About her triumph over Vika, Amy said, "She is very young, but I did not lose confidence on my part, because I have tried my best." A total of 18 contestants competed for the crown that night, with former ATV artist and 2010's Mr. Hong Kong winner, William Chak, serving as one of the judges for the pageant.

Emirates 24/7, 20-Jan-2013: Janine Tugonon, the first runner-up at the 2012 Miss Universe beauty pageant, has not only signified her interest of joining show business but also her choice of a would-be leading man. If she had her way, Ms Tugonon, who is also a licensed pharmacist, would want to star in a movie opposite Dingdong Dantes, an award-wining actor and one of the mainstays of the Kapuso network GMA-7. She has revealed in a recent radio interview that Mr Dantes is her idol, saying he does not only have good looks but is also a very good actor. “I like Dingdong a lot,” she said. “It would be good if we could do a love story kind of movie together. He’s such a good actor, and I really look up to him when it comes to acting.”

MARYLAND'S PRIDE AND JOY
The Donald makes it official, official, official! Maryland's Nana Meriwether is the new Miss USA, ascending to the title after last month's crowning of Miss USA Olivia Culpo as Miss Universe 2012. With Nana, Maryland can finally claim a legitimate Miss USA title. Maryland suffers the dubious distinction of having been the state with the "Miss USA for Just One Day," Leona Gage, who was crowned Miss USA 1957 on July 17, 1957 and dethroned/disqualified a day later (she was married, which was, and still is, a violation of the pageant's rules). After Leona and before Nana, the closest Maryland has ever come to the Miss USA title was in 1968, with first runner-up Paulette Reck.
More on Maryland! According to Wikipedia, Maryland is the 9th smallest state by area, but the 19th most populous and the 5th most densely populated of the 50 United States (Remember, Maryland's neighbor, the District of Columbia, is not a state). The state was named after Queen Henrietta Maria, hence the crown on the state seal. Also, among all 50 states Maryland has the highest median household income, making it the wealthiest state in the USA.

ALL-AMERICAN WAG
The USA might just have its first offical WAG! Miss Alabama USA 2012 and top ten finisher at Miss USA 2012 Katherine Webb was an instant television and social media sensation last night here in the land of the stars and stripes, thanks to the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game between college football teams Notre Dame and the University of Alabama and the fact that Katherine is the girlfriend of University of Alabama star quarterback AJ McCarron. The sportscasters seemed to talk more about her than the game itself, and her Twitter following went from roughly 5,000 to almost 57,000 in a matter of hours. Expect to see more of her, but in the meantime, follow her on Twitter - @_KatherineWebb. BTW, Alabama won the game!

VOTED BEST ALUM - EVER!
Manila Standard Today, 08-Jan-2012: The Royal and Pontifical University of Santo Tomas on Monday gave a regal welcome to its popular alumna Miss Universe runner-up Janine Tugonon who was also recognized for bringing honor to the Philippines. Students, bystanders and motorists waved at Tugonon who went to the red-carpet welcome in UST on a motorcade from the Araneta Center in Cubao with hundreds of people waving and taking pictures from the sidewalks. MISS BELGIUM 2013
Stunning, leggy, and blonde Miss Liége Noémie Happart, 19, is the new Miss Belgium 2013. She won the title tonight during a glittering, televised gala held at Knokke-Heist Casino in Knokke-Heist, a seaside resort. Runners-up for the coveted title were Miss Namur Shérine Dandoy and Miss Vlaams-Brabant Melissa Vingerhoed. The live, televised pageant seemed to take a cue from the live telecast of Miss Universe 2013 - a false start with bad audio that didn't synch right away. Poor Veronique de Kock, Miss Belgium 1995,who was one of the hosts! All that said, Dean Harris thinks that Noémie has all of the physical attributes to be one of the Donald's Euro-picks for Miss Universe 2013!
