WHO WILL BE THE NEW MISTER INTERNATIONAL 2013?
Who will be the new Mister International 2013? We will know tomorrow, when the contest will be held in Jakarta. The competitors seem to get better and better each year, and there are many stand-outs vying for the 8th annual title. Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni had a difficult time coming up with their faves, but they finally narrowed it down to a list of eight (appropriate for the 8th annual edition of the contest!). In alphabetical order, their faves for the title are Brazil, Chile, Czech Republic, Philippines, Slovak Republic, Spain, Sri Lanka, and Turkey. That said, we wish the best of luck to all of the competitors!

MISS UND MISTER BERLIN 2014
Not to be outdone by the capital of their "schwester land" Austria, Germany saw the election of Miss und Mister Berlin 2014 on Friday night. As one headline read, "Berlins hat eine neue Schönheitskönigin!" Who are Berlin's new royalty of beauty? At the end of the co-ed contest held at the Adagio nightclub, Anna Höfel, 21 and 1m60, won the Miss Berlin 2014 title. Winning the Mister Berlin 2014 was Enrico Diedrich, 24 and 1m89. We think the only thing that could have made this co-ed contest any better would have been a shopping mall venue!
MISTER VIENNA 2013
The new Mister Vienna 2013 is Ike Musitz (aka "Hulk"), 23 and 2m06. He won the title last night at the climax of a contest at Club Couture. Runners-up were Benedikt Hinkl, 23 and 1m90; and Eduard Brahimi, 22 and 1m88. 18 men competed for the title. Next up for Ike? Mister Austria 2013!
Ike moves on to the next round of competition - Mister Austria 2013!
We think that Mister Vienna 2013 first runner-up blond Benedikt moves on
to Mister Austria 2013, too!
Who will be the new Mister Austria?
Who will succeed Mister Austria 2012 Kurt Kases?
We will find out 22-Nov!

BRAVE MISS WORLD
Los Angeles Times, 14-Nov-2013/By Sheri Linden: Linor Abargil's emotional response to being crowned Miss World in 1998 was more than just a case of tears of joy: Weeks before the event, the reigning Miss Israel had been raped at knifepoint in Milan, Italy. An 18-year-old with remarkable inner strength and a supportive family, Abargil refused to submit to shaming silence and fought to bring her attacker to justice.
"Brave Miss World," Cecilia Peck's intimate documentary portrait, illuminates the ways the attack changed the course of her subject's life — and shows that, in this supposedly enlightened age, rape victims who speak out are still often stigmatized rather than championed, even on U.S. college campuses.Read the complete review of the documentary "Brave Miss World" on the Los Angeles Times website.

"Africans, Asians and Europeans Pushed Aside in Moscow’s Miss Universe Contest"
"Hello, Miss Universe Jury! Beauty and charm come in all colors and accents!
Here is Miss Ethiopia, Mhadere Tigabe, a 21-year-old student from Addis Abba."
James Brooke/VOA, 12-Nov-2013: OK, I did not interview Miss Venezuela. I did not think the Miss Universe jury in Moscow would really fall for the latest plastic product of Venezuela’s beauty queen assembly lines.
Last week, at a press availability for the Misses, I could not fail to miss Miss Venezuela, Maria Gabriela Isler. Her blinding white teeth made me want to put on dark glasses. Her princess gait made the other Misses look like peasants. Earlier, at a night club “night out with the contestants,” I noticed she had a skillful way of elbowing her way to the front of the cameras.
But, early on Moscow’s Sunday morning, the Miss Universe diamond tiara landed once again on the head of a Miss Venezuela — for the third time in six years.
The fact that it kept sliding off Maria Gabriela’s leonine locks might have been a signal that the jury made the wrong call.
Out of 86 contestants from around the globe, the jury winnowed the race down to a ‘diverse’ group of five Latinas: Miss Spain, Miss Ecuador, Miss Venezuela, Miss Brazil, and Miss Philippines. (The Philippines are sometimes called Spain’s gift to Asia).Read the entire review @ the VOA website.

MISS COLOMBIA 2013
The new Miss Colombia 2013 is Miss Atlántico Paulina Vega Dieppa, 20. She won the "Reinado Nacional de Belleza" last night during a glittering gala in Cartagena. She will be Colombia's delegate to Miss Universe 2014. First runner-up, or virreina of the "Reinado Nacional de Belleza," was Miss San Andrés, P. y SC. Zuleika Suárez Torrenegra. She will be Colombia's delegate to Miss International 2014. Congratulations to both of these stunning women. And a quick shout-out to Miss Chocó Yesuly Londoño Mosquera. She totally rocked it with her full-on, all-natural, hairstyle!
We are sooooo glad the afro is coming back!
OK...we are not sure who rocks the most with their afro! Dante de Blasio, the son of the newly-elected Democratic (yes!!!) mayor of New York City Bill de Blasio, or Miss Chocó! Chiara de Blasio's hairstyle rocks, too! (Photo: Getty Images)
P.S. Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni are rabid Democrats. It would be hard to say who they despise the most - all Republicans or Miss Universe 2013!

YOU KNOW THEY AIN'T LET THEM SAY NOTHING!
Today, several Miss Universe 2013 beauty delegates appeared on a Russian talk show called - appropriately enough - "Let It Be Said." But you know that the Donald's quisling Paula Sugar Honey would not allow them to speak a single word of truth about Saturday's travesty of a contest.
"FOREFATHERS! CONSTITUTION! F*CKING FREEDOM, AMIRITE?”
If anything can alleviate the current pain and suffering of Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni in light of recent events in Moscow, it is the annual Miss Universe 2013 national costume review by Tom + Lorenzo. It is a must read! LMFAO is an understatement! And OMFG wait until you read the caption for Venezuela's national costume!!!
RONDEMENT BELLE 2013

MISS ASIA-SIBERIA 2013
Ludmila Popova, 18, of Sakha (Yakutia) Republic, receives the winner's crown from former titleholder Shoraana Ondar (L) of Tuva Republic, during the final show of the 7th "Miss Asia-Siberia" inter-regional amateur beauty and talents contest, in Russia's Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, November 11, 2013. Contenders, mostly students from the Republics of Buryatia, Tuva, Khakassia, Sakha-Yakutia, Bashkortostan, Mountain Shoria in Kemerovo region as well as from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan who study in Siberia and nearby regions, took part in the contest to single out the most beautiful, talented and creative woman who presented the national culture via suits, dances, songs and speech, according to organisers. REINADO NACIONAL DE BELLEZA 2013
Colombia's Reinado Nacional de Belleza 2013 reaches its climax tonight! Who will be the new Miss Colombia 2013? Will the new Miss Colombia be able to compete on equal footing at Miss Universe 2014 with the chica plastica from next door? Who cares! When all is said and done, Colombia stages a much better national pageant and fields a much better group of real women that does its poor, sad, little economically-ruined neighbor. Oh, and in Colombia, black women compete in the pageant! Imagine that!
Colombia has a real pageant, not a fake reality TV show. Their pagent is full of tradition, and it includes many fun-filled events for the adoring publico, such as the desfile de balleneras. The candidates actually appear outdoors in several events. Since Venezuela's candidates would melt in the sunshine, they are completely closeted during their so-called "contest." And before they melted completely, they would get kidnapped or shot. Ay...pobre Venezuela. I guess it is better to have a fake Miss Universe than bread or toilet paper. If ever a country gets what its deserves, it is Venezuela.
Meanwhile, as is our wont, we digress. We are so excited for tonight's contest, and we have set our DVR! We subscribe to the Verizon FIOS Latino package, of course!

WE ARE SURE SHE SAID F*CK YOU TO THE DONALD
In light of recent events, all BS students are hereby required to read this eye-opening interview with the most beautiful Miss Universe ever, even if she was dethroned, Oksana Federova of Russia. As she says in the interview, "I had a choice: either stay and agree with all of the requirements and limitations of the organizers of the contest, or give up the crown and leave." We are so glad she told the Donald to f*ck you, Oksana. He deserves Gabriela as his Miss Universe; he never deserved you. In fact, he was not worthy of you!
MISS UNIVERSE 2013 TV RATINGS DOWN BY 50%! THANK YOU, LAWD!
Yess Lawd!!! The ratings for the US telecast of Miss Universe 2013 croaked, too! Down by 50% from last year!!! Hurrah!!! Time for NBC to dump the thing.
"In the U.S., where Saturday is the least watched night of the week, last night’s Miss Universe 2013 special drew 3.8 million viewers and a 0.9 in adults 18-49, about half of the 6.1 million, 1.8 in 18-49 who tuned in last year when Miss Universe aired from 8-10 PM on Wednesday, originating from Las Vegas with Miss USA as the winner. This year, Venezuela, where pageants are matter of national pride, landed another Miss Universe. Despite the controversy leading to the pageant, stemming from Russia’s anti-gay laws, there was no mention of the issue on the telecast. CBS won Saturday night with NCAA football (11.5 million, 3.9/13 in the fast nationals)."(Source: Deadline Hollywood)

MISS AND MISTER LUXEMBOURG 2013
The new Miss and Mister Luxembourg 2013 were elected last night during a glittering gala at Bad Mondorf. Miss Luxembourg 2013 is blonde Frédérique Wolff. Runners-up were for the Miss Luxembourg 2013 were Cynthia Da Moura Varela and Barbara Nijhuis. Mister Luxembourg 2013 is Osvaldo Sanchez Rivera.
An aside: we are so glad that Luxembourg saw the light of day a long time ago, and we hope they never, ever waste their money on MUO again.
CROAKING @ CROCUS CITY
What a f*cking perfect headline for a f*cking awful contest.
As someone said on facebook, "maldita perra de mierda esa venezolana."
The crime at Crocus City has made us croak (as in die). Well, it made Dean Harris and Prof. Chandni croak, that is. We are just done. Cooked. No podemos más. We hereby declare that we have no intention of covering Miss Chicken Neck 2013...ummm...we mean Miss Universe 2013 on this blog. Ever (excluding this post). She does not exist. We thought we would boycott the Universe 2013 pageant itself (as in no blog posts). Now we will be boycotting Miss Universe 2013 herself.
1. A quick shot of the fantabulous Lu Sierra during the opening.
2. The Alla Duhova Dance Company "TODES."
3. The background music ("Clarity" by Zedd ft. Foxes) for the introduction of the delegates from Angola through Gabon.
4. Dominican Republic's au naturel hair. She represented!
5. Venezuela's final question because we discovered that she could be a Steve Tyler drag queen (or vice versa).
6. Never, never having to know Venezuela's greatest fear (although our greatest fear was realized and we do not yet know how we will overcome it).
7. Saying goodbye to Olivia Culpo. We were never fans of Olivia. We were happy when she won Miss Universe 2012 only because Maryland's Nana Meriwether inherited the Miss USA 2012 title (which should have been hers to begin with!).
8. The cameras zooming on the real, all-natural winner of the night when Thomas Roberts announced the fake, all-plastic, bisturi winner of the night.
9. And right after that zoom, the audience leaderboard appearing on screen, showing Spain receiving 54% of the vote over Venezuela's 46%.
10. The crown uncannily knowing that it did not deserve what it got, tumbling off the chicken-necked woman. The UK's Daily Mail has it right - a faux pas from start to finish in Moscow!
We hope that the Donald and Paula Sugar Honey got what they paid for. And we hope the ratings of the telecast in the USA will be the lowest ever. And we are actually glad that Venezuela will be moving to New York City. She will no longer have to stand in bread lines and toilet paper lines in that sad, little economic ruin, shortage-plagued country of hers. And we hope that she enjoyed that dirty old Russian man touching her ass in that stupid-ass million-dollar bikini. Oh, wait. It is all fake down there, too, so she felt nothing.
OMG!!! We are soooooo looking forward to Miss Universe 2014, when a) the number of delegates doesn't crack 80, because many countries are tired of the fix; and b) Venezuela wins again (or USA or Puerto Rico). We think the Donald should just sell the thing off to Cisneros and let it finally die, too.
