The new Miss South Africa 2015 is Liesl Laurie, 23 and a university graduate. She won the title today at the climax of a gala ceremony held at the Sun City Superbowl on Sunday night. Runners-up were Refilwe Mthimunye and Ntsiki Mkhize. Gracing the event were the current Miss World Rolene Strauss, Miss World 1974 Anneline Kriel, and Miss World 1958 Penny Coelen Ray.

From www.enca.com: Liesl Laurie is 24 and comes from Eldorado Park, in Johannesburg and graduated with a B.Com General Degree from the University of Johannesburg (Soweto Campus). After graduating, she decided to take the rest of the year off from university to pursue a full time career in modelling and also to embark on her journey of giving back to her community and country. “I have been working with a number of non-profit organisations that include Babies Behind Bars and Pilgrim Oasis Community Children’s Outreach in Eldorado Park and adjacent informal settlement in Kliptown.”

MISTER CENTROCCIDENTAL 2015

The new Mister Centroccidental 2015 is Rafael Angelucci. On Friday, 27-Mar-2015, he topped nine other men for the coveted title - and a ticket to Mister Venezuela 2015, set for 23-May-2015. The runners-up were José Andrés Rivero, Stefano Cestra, Rafael Oropeza, and Leonardo Pereira. They get tickets to the final casting for Mister Venezuela 2015. The remaining contestants were Jorge Lucena (winner of the "Mejor Cuerpo" sub-title), Fulvio Arias, Luis Márquez, Leonel Brito, and Carlos Coronado. The Mister Centroccidental 2015 contest was organized by the Instituto Médico Estético Integral (IMEI), presided over by Dr. Javier Gómez.

FBB FEMINA MISS INDIA 2015

fbb Femina Miss India 2015 is Aditi Arya. The Delhi native won the title - and a ticket to Miss World 2015 - at a gala event tonight at Mumbai's Yashraj Studios. Runners-up were Afreen Racheal Vaz and Vartika Singh.

MISC. MISS AND MISTER

Dama y Caballero de Girona 2015 are Sheila Martori and Arnau Sola Terradellas. They were elected on Friday, 13-Mar-2015, during a gala event at the Sala Univers de Girona. 

Miss and Marília 2015 are Isabela Tozato and Victor Moreira. They were elected on Saturday, 14-Mar-2015. Runners-up for the Miss title were Yasmin Bonato and Taís Cristina Oliveira. Runners-up for the Mister title were João Vitor Machado and Patrick Gomes Silva.

Miss and Mister Universitário Minas Gerais 2014 were elected on Saturday, 14-Mar-2015. Larissa Chehuen and Ivan Goveia emerged as the winners. Of course, we love that this is a co-ed contest in which the winners are crowned in their swimsuits...and can you have a better crown!

The Mister Japan 2015 competition, the third annual, was held at the same time as Miss Universe Japan 2015. Mister Akita Prefecture Junpei Watanabe, 26, emerged as the winner.

MISS UNIVERSE JAPAN 2015

TOKYO, March 13 (UPI) -- A Japanese beauty pageant contestant of African-American and Japanese ancestry was crowned Miss Universe Japan on Thursday.

The winner, Eriana Miyamoto, is from Miyazaki Prefecture in southwestern Japan. She was born to an African-American father and a Japanese mother, Kyodo News reported.
Miyamoto, 22, will represent Japan in the Miss Universe pageant in 2016.

Kotaku, a Japan and technology-focused online media outlet, reported that Miyamoto expressed uneasiness on whether a half-Japanese contestant could represent Japan at an international beauty pageant.

Miyamato, who also spent portions of her childhood in Nagasaki, said that despite her non-Japanese looks, she has many Japanese personality traits.

Miyamoto's victory drew criticism on Japanese websites, with some questioning whether she could represent Japan as a "hafu," or half-Japanese. One commenter wrote, "It makes me uncomfortable to say she's representing Japan."

Other commenters called such criticism "outdated."

Japan's foreign population remains relatively low, comprising less than 2 percent of the whole.

According to Japanese immigration records, in 2008 the non-Japanese population identified as permanent residents was estimated at 2.2 million and annually some 20,000 half-Japanese are born in Japan.

Chinese, Koreans and Filipinos are the largest groups represented.

In 2014, The New York Times reported that Japan's aging population and low birth rate has the country facing an imminent labor shortage but it has been slow to open up immigration to much needed workers.

The new Mister Wielkopolski is Rafał Kalinowski, 23 and 1m94. He won the title on Sunday, 08-Mar-2015, during an event at the YoYo Bowling and Lounge in Ostrów Wielkopolski. Runners-up were Norbert Hawryluk, 22 and 1m82 ; and Lukas Kotala, 26 and 1m80. A total of seven men competed in the final.

MISTER BESKIDOW 2015

Mister Beskidów 2015 was elected last night in Czechowice during a gala ceremony at the Eureka Manor. He is none other than Syzmon Rus, 1m85. Syzmon also won the Mister Internet, Mister Foto, and Mister Modern Collection sub-titles. Runners-up for the Mister Beskidów were Mateusz Biel (winner of the Mister Pako Lorente sub-title), 25 and 1m88; Dominik Maj (winner of the Mister Publiczności sub-title), 26 and 1m82; and Jarosław Sawicki, 27 and 1m81. The remaining contestants were Artur Boryś, Wojciech Czarnecki (winner of the Mister Portalu www.bielsko.biała.pl sub-title), Marek Duraj (winner of the Mister Elegance sub-title), Konrad Kolarzyk, Kamil Włoch, and Mateusz Zawada. The Mister Beskidów competition is organized by Grabowska Agency Models.
