Miss Rhode Island Olivia Culpo reacts as she is announced Miss USA 2012. Miss Maryland Nana Meriwether was named first runner-up. Olivia's win tonight during the Miss USA pageant at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas gives Rhode Island, "The Ocean State," its first Miss USA title. Did you know that Rhode Island is the smallest in area of the 50 states in the USA, but the 2nd most densely populated. Also, Rhode Island was the first of the 13 original colonies to declare independence from British rule, declaring itself independent on May 4, 1776.
