Miss Samoa Latafale Auva'a, 20, is the new Miss Pacific Islands 2014. The "hometown girl," she won the title on Friday night in Samoa. She also won two subtitles, Best Talent and Best Interview. Miss Cook Islands, Antonina Browne, was first runner-up; Miss Fiji, Nanise Rainima, was second runner up; Miss American Samoa, Anneliese Sword was third runner up; and Miss Papua New Guinea, Grace Nugi, was fourth runner up. The pageant, previously known as Miss South Pacific, was re-named to Miss Pacific Islands this year, to reflect the fact that the some of the competing islands/island nations (i.e., Papua New Guinea) are technically not located in the South Pacific. The pageant begin in 1987, when it was established by the government of Samoa. The
Samoa Tourism Authority has a complete list of miss South Pacific/Miss Pacific Island winners.
