Our BS scholars who are minoring in epidemiology have just given us this latest outbreak alert. The outbreak is most severe the USA, which is odd, as the USA is not known to be pageant-crazy. And, as the stats indicate, Miss Universe fever is spiking in Europe - Germany, the Czech Republic, and the United Kingdom, for example. We are likely not able to get reliable information from Latin America on Miss Universe fever, since Latino pageant fans know that Dean Harris is generally anti-Latina and specifically anti-Miss Venezuela.
