GBC, 07-Jun-2014: 22-year-old Shyanne Azzopardi is Miss Gibraltar 2014. The brown-haired teaching assistant and zumba instructor was crowned at the 52nd Miss Gibraltar Pageant, which took place at the Queen’s Cinema.
Kristy Torres was chosen as 1st Princess, as well as Miss Photogenic and Miss Catwalk.
2nd Princess went to Claire Nuñez.
Shyanne, Kristy and Claire beat off competition from Megan Bonavia, Kirsty Serra, Eleanor Wright, Jaiza Bird, and Larisa Volitskaya in a pageant which saw the young women talk about their charity of choice, while also showing off their beauty in swimsuit and evening gown rounds.
The show was organised by Stage One and saw entertainment provided by Guy Valarino, Andrea Simpson, Simon Dumas, Corinne Cooper and the resident band Afterhours, who seamlessly linked everything together musically. X Factor star Ray Quinn performed in the first and second halves of the spectacle, which was shown live on GBC Television.
Miss Gibraltar 2014 Shyanne Azzopardi will represent the Rock at Miss World in London in December, and will no doubt be kept busy with local appearances between now and then.
