The new Miss Tahiti 2014 is Hinarare Taputu. She won the title last night, during a glittering gala televised worldwide via the web. The contest was held outdoors, at the Maire de Papeete. It was originally scheduled to be held on Friday night, but was postponed because of inclement weather. Hinarere will now represent her Polynesian island at Miss France 2105 in December. Runners-up for the Miss Tahiti 2014 title were Hereata Ellard and Kohotu Ariita. This year's jury was composed entirely of Miss France winners: Mareva Georges (1991, from Tahiti), Mareva Galanter (1999, from Tahiti), Sylvie Tellier (2002), Alexandra Rosenfeld (2006 and Miss Europe 2006), Chloé Mortaud (2009), Marine Lorphelin (2013 and Miss World 2013 first-runner-up), and Flora Coquerel (2014).

Wow! Lots of beauty on this stage! And doesn't Mareva Georges, Miss France 1991, look absolutely gorgeous in that blue gown? (Photo: Polynésie 1ère) |
