This Miss Universe "academic" year was very competitive, with a majority of the delegates excelling in all competition-related subject areas. It was difficult for Dean Harris to lead the faculty and staff to a consensus list. In fact, because one of Boris' picks did not make the Dean's List, he has resigned. Beauty School is now defenseless. We will begin recruiting a new new security guard in the very near future. Meanwhile, we digress. After several hours of intense scrutiny of the delegates' records, a consensus list did emerge. Even though this is a consensus list, all students on the list have sterling records and merit their achievement. That said, the list does reflect to some degree personal favorites of various faculty and staff, who have, to a person, disregarded all the buzz about several delegates who top other lists.

Without further adieu, making the Dean's List this year are, in alphabetical order:
  1. Austria
  2. Bolivia
  3. Czech Republic
  4. Hungary
  5. India
  6. Israel
  7. Italy
  8. Jamaica
  9. Netherlands
  10. Poland
  11. Russia
  12. Spain
  13. Trinidad and Tobago
  14. Turkey
  15. Ukraine

As Miss Universe 1987 Chile's Cecilia Bolocco said on that "Viva La Noche" night in 1993, "Anything can happen tonight!" (She was color commentator that year, along with Miss Universe 1989). La Bolocco's wise words are definitely the motto for the Miss Universe competition these days. With the addition of the Trump Cards, almost any list that we or others put together is rendered basically irrelevant. There could be a total fiesta night, with complete and utter Latin domination. Russia could win at home. We could have a "Miss Europe" competition, with at least ten of semifinalists from that continent. USA could win back to back. A very, very dark horse like Azerbaijan could make the cut, and an amazingly strong and huge fan favorite like Spain could not. "Anything can happen tonight!"
