The first Miss Black France contest was held this weekend. Twenty-two models between the ages of 19 and 28 were selected from 1,000 entrants. The eventual winner was Mbathio Beye, a 21-year-old Senegalese-born student. The contest was marred by a political protest from the far right. Read more about the contest and the protests at the RFI (Radio France International) website.
Editorial Note: In this presidential election year for both the France and the USA, Dean Harris doesn't know which far right is scarier - the far right in the USA or the far right in France. Zut alors!
