MISS UNIVERSE GUAM 2013 CONTESTANTS REVEALED

Pacific News Center, 28-Aug-2013: Celebrating "Women of Purpose," the Guam Beauty Organization has revealed the 11 contestants that will compete for the coveted crown of Miss Universe Guam.

The contestants gathered together at the Hyatt Regency this morning [Wednesday] where National Director Joyce Bamba spoke about the details of their upcoming event. She explains the Guam Beauty Organization is the umbrella organization that sponsors the Miss Universe Guam and Miss International Guam Pageant.

It was founded by George and Cecilia Bamba over 44 years ago. She says the women that compete support and participate in the Special Olympics, Relay for Life, autism awareness, visiting the sick, feeding the homeless and other services for the community. The pageant will also join Miss Universe Inc. to donate funds to help children with cleft lips through a charity called Operation Smile.

 “These women that you see here today, are savvy goal orientated and they're aware of the responsibilities that each have in representing Guam, our culture and our people,” said Bamba. “The contestants who become part of the Miss Universe organization display these characteristics in their everyday lives.”

The Miss Universe Guam finals will be September 16 at the Hyatt ballroom. Cocktails start at 6 p.m. at the show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $50.00 for reserved seats and $40.00 for general seating. It can be purchased at the IT&E Harmon Office.

The winner will be sent to Russia in November to represent Guam and vie for the title of 2013 Miss Universe. The runner up of the pageant will also be crowned Miss International Guam and represent the island in Japan for the annual Miss International Pageant.
