What do Miss Italia and Miss America have in common? Well, we can think of at least three things:
- Each had a "threepeat" this year, with winners from Sicily and New York, respectively.
- Each has a storied history - they are the "oldest" such contests in Italy and America.
- Each serves a purely national function - the winner does not compete at an international level.
